The Liyou Foundation, established in memory of Liyou Getachew, honors the legacy of a brilliant and beautiful young woman who tragically succumbed to Echocardiography—an enlargement of the right chambers of the heart coupled with severe Pulmonary hypertension—at the tender age of 20 in Ethiopia back in 2009 due to lack of early detection. Her passing left an indelible mark on her family, particularly her elder sister, Kalkidan Ezra, who is committed to addressing healthcare challenges prevalent in underserved communities, particularly in Ethiopia. Our mission emanates from a profound aspiration to prevent treatable diseases from claiming lives owing to the scarcity of medical resources. Founded by Kalkidan Ezra, the foundation endeavors to create a lasting impact by collaborating with local hospitals and supplying essential medical equipment.
Collaborating with Local Hospital located at the heart of the capital city of Addis Ababa not only showcases a commitment to improving healthcare but also highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving such noble goals.
